Diana grew up on a farm in north central Iowa between Rowan and Belmond, attended Rowan
and graduated from Belmond High School. After high school Diana studied at University of
Northern Iowa and received a B.A. degree with a teaching major in Secondary School English
and a minor in Spanish. She taught four years in the Sentral of Fenton school district. Diana
was married to Lee Hoover in 1967, and they have two adult sons, Thad (married to Ericka) and
parents to our granddaughters Whitney, Carlee, and Mariah, and Trent (married to Jessica) and
parent to our granddaughter Chloe.
It was in 1987 that Diana recognized God’s call to her for ordained ministry and began to
answer that call. She began her studies at the University of Iowa Graduate School of Religion
but soon transferred credits to Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois,
where she graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 1994. She served an internship at First UMC,
Ottumwa, Iowa.
Diana’s first appointment after school was as pastor of the Ainsworth Community Church in
Ainsworth, Iowa, where she served from 1994-1998. She was called next to St. Mark’s UMC in
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she served from 1998-2006 until she was appointed to the present
pastorate in Clear Lake.
Diana is a graduate of the two-year Academy for Spiritual Formation, a program of Upper Room
Ministries in Nashville, the Iowa Annual Conference Bishop’s Preaching Academy, and the Iowa
Annual Conference Two-Year Academy for New Ministry Development. Diana has served on two
District Committees on Ministry, the Cedar Rapids District Hispanic Committee, as a
Legislative Chair at Annual Conference for five different sessions, the North Central
District Stewardship Committee, and the Academy for New Ministry Development Commission. She served for eight
years as one of the co-deans for the Iowa School for Ministry. When in Cedar Rapids, Diana
sometimes served as one of the Spiritual Directors for Chysalis and Walk to Emmaus Retreat Weekends.
Diana enjoys family, reading, music, and the beauty of Clear Lake.
